Candlelit Dartmouth 2017 - A festive celebration of all things Christmassy …..
Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November
Join in the festivities in Dartmouth, the town is truly decked out for a weekend of markets, musicians, shopping and Santa. Catch the procession as Father Christmas arrives by boat in true maritime fashion and join in the magical candlelit lantern procession through the streets.
Two days of candlelit Dartmouth – for fun and entertainment
Dartmouth’s historic streets come alive during the Dartmouth Candlelit Festival weekend – the Old Market craft stalls are filled with gift ideas and Christmas decorations, the Christmas markets in Royal Avenue Gardens offer the chance to buy unique presents for all and support local traders.
Friday 24th November – proceedings commence at 4pm
• Stroll around the Christmas market and wander amongst entertainers and musicians. Join in with carol singing from the BRNC Volunteer Band and the Britannia Choral Society. As dusk approaches its time for the official switch-on of Dartmouth's Christmas lights and the eagerly awaited arrival of Santa by boat. Eat drink and be merry and pick up a few Christmas treats on the way.
Saturday 25th November from 10am
• Christmas markets, entertainers and musicians, "Candlelit Kids"with seasonal craft workshops, Santa's grotto and more), lantern procession, Christmas shopping. Traditionally on the Saturday, Dartmouth is lit up with the procession of hundreds of willow and tissue lanterns created by children and families in the area. It’s quite a spectacle to behold.
