Salcombe and Kingsbridge Things to Do

A creative family day out in Salcombe, South Devon

There are plenty of things to see and do when staying in your holiday cottage in South Devon, especially in the area of Salcombe and Kingsbridge. The two towns are perfectly situated as a base for your next break in Devon and are in a great central location to access local attractions and days out. Here's just some of our favourite things to do in the area:

Cookworthy Museum, Kingsbridge

Cookworthy museum used to be the town's old grammar school. Take a step back in time and uncover the history of this traditional market town.

Paper Bird Island, Salcombe

If you fancy getting creative, head over to Paper Bird Island in Salcombe for all things paper mache and crafts.

Shooting Range, Salcombe

Located just a short distance outside of Salcombe, test your aim at the Salcombe shooting school, a great day out away from the beaches but with spectacular countryside views.

Beach Days

These two towns are in the perfect location for plenty of trips to the beach, with a great choice of sandy shores just a stone’s throw away.

Take up a new hobby on your holiday and learn to stand up paddleboard, surf or even kayak. With lots of hidden creeks and coves waiting to be discovered, this is one of the best ways to explore this beautiful area of the South Hams.

Try the Local Produce

Salcombe is a thriving fishing town and famous for its crab which is shipped around the world, so why not taste some fresh off the boat? As well as the crab, Salcombe is also famous for its Gin and Ice-Cream, so make sure you don't miss out on these on your next holiday to South Devon. Kingsbridge Farmer's Market is another great way to try out local produce. Held once a fortnight, this is a popular market attended by locals with lots of great produce.

If you prefer to spend your holiday relaxing, why not try a yoga class? With a range of different classes running in both Kingsbridge and Salcombe as well as beach and SUP yoga (available in the summer months) this is a great excuse to getaway for an hour or two.
