Very comfortable with modern appliances, secure garden for pets. Excellent value for money.Mr Michael Welch - 26th March 2018
Great location for nearby beaches, walking and attractions, plenty of room with a good size garden in a nice villageIan Nayor - 19th August 2017
A lovely cottage with everything we needed. Main building is really nice with good size rooms and a kitchen with everything we needed, garden is large and well kept with plenty of outdoor furniture. Having the wifi in the kids bedroom was annoying, as ours pulled it down and disconnected it twice - it would be nice if it could be connected to a wall securely.S Bosman - 14th June 2017
Lovely accommodation in a lovely rural accommodation. The only slight criticism is that the carpets were in need of steam cleaning, particularly as this is the start of the season. Also the key safe is too low and difficult to see. Other than that everything was lovely, well equipped and we would certainly stay there againA Walker - 12th April 2017
A really lovely property which ticked many boxes for us. The area was beautiful with a lovely local shop, post office, butchers, hairdressers, pub and church. The house was warm n cosy and absolutely perfect for us with our dogs. The garden was beautiful with great views and was all fenced off so we could let the dogs run around in the garden. We loved the conservatory and the view from the living room. We would highly recommend and happily stay again.A previous customer - 17th March 2017
The cottage was very clean comfortable and well equipped although we couldn't find a teapot. We did find it difficult walking through the garden to get into the cottage as we had an elderly gentleman with severe mobility difficulties. Having said that it certainly didn't spoil our stay in any way. Many thanksA previous customer - 2nd November 2016
The accommodation was good, the kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed. The garden was enclosed and a really good size for our dog to explore. Only thing was when we let him out to do his business at night it was difficult to see due to poor lighting but I'm sure this could be solved. The dining table is located in the conservatory which is lovely but we had to move it into the lounge due to the room being very cold, but it was early October when we went, in the summer months it would be ideal. The red sofa in the lounge wasn't very comfortable but the brown one was, I think this should be replaced as it's seen better days. The rooms are a good size and we had a lovely stay, not really complaining but just suggesting a few things to make other people's stay more enjoyable. I would recommend this accommodation, it was so peaceful and quiet we hardly saw anyone.A previous customer - 12th October 2016
Stayed 4 nights. Accommodation clean, comfortable and well equiped. Would stay again. Great location and fenced garden which was great for our dog.A previous customer - 12th October 2016
Our 3 generation family of 6 had a comfortable week at The Chestnuts. It's a spacious bungalow with thee bathrooms, so there was never any congestion in the morning. The kitchen is well equipped and the lovely sunny garden is enclosed to keep young children safe. It's so peaceful and situated in a lovely village with a pub and a local shop, a few miles from Broadsands beach. In fact if you are happy to drive 10 mins then it's close to everywhere. It's also a short walk to the Agatha Christie house and close to the steam train railway so you get to hear the toot toot of the steam train during the day (pleasant not annoying). The house definitely smells heavily of dog (maybe previous occupants had one) which isn't an issue for everyone, halfway through the week I either stopped noticing it or the smell went! If you have young children it may be useful to take a blackout blind for their sunny bedroom, if it helps to keep them asleep! You may want to take plastic plates/cups etc. for your young children as the house only has really nice crockery! We all agreed that we'd happily stay at The Chestnuts again as it's a lovely house in a great location.A previous customer - 31st August 2016
The cottage is well positioned, with all facilities as described. The garden is particularly good being extremely dog friendly. In general the location is very quiet especially in the evenings although there was some noise from the local small businesses during the day. As we had good weather we spent a lot of time outside, enjoying the garden, bat watching and listening to the owls as night fell. One omission for us was a barbecue which would have made eating outside easier. Inside the cottage is comfortable, the only negative point was that some areas were not as clean as others, the conservatory in particular could do with a thorough clean. We would consider this cottage again if we are in the area. There is plenty to do locally, lots of nice walks and the local pub is worth a visit especiallyon steak night.A previous customer - 5th August 2016
Our stay at Chestnuts was superb. From the time we arrived in the village until the time we left it was great. We arrived early and stopped at the local, The Manor Inn. The service was great, locals very friendly and later in the week we found out how good the food was, quiz night is a giggle with the locals, oh and the steak night is excellent value at £25 for two meals including a bottle of wine. We left the pub and then followed the instruction to the cottage, excellent instructions. As soon as we parked up and went through the back gate it felt like home. We found the key safe (this I feel could be better located. Very low down and in the dark was a nightmare. Inside was lovely and clean and everything was as described in the brochure, superb size double beds. Three toilets all very clean. Kitchen had every thing you could need for the holiday. Nice comfy living room with freeview TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi was perfect. The conservatory was a lovely area to just sit and chill after a day out and was very warm in the mornings. We chose to sleep in the bedroom with the en suit and I had some of the best sleeps I have had for a long time. The outside space was lovely and not really got much to complain about but if I was to be picky I would have liked the grass to have been cut before we arrived not during our stay. Another small point lighting by the back gate never worked. How ever these minor faults were made up by the wild life in the back garden. We could sit out the back by the patio table having a morning coffee and the biggest pigeons you could wish to see would come and sit right beside you. We had two resident Moorhens in the back garden, a huge cock pheasant and the normal day to day birds we all see, it was lovely. My dog just wondered about and the pigeons did the same no fear from the birds. Garden is 100% safe for children and dogs. Three dogs beds are available for pets to use, various sizes. The accommodation is ideally situated as it is just a 8 minute drive from Brixham Town centre, 4 minutes walk from the village shop, 6 minutes from the local pub and 15 minutes from local supermarkets. Did we have a good holiday? you bet we did will we go back? silly question. You can count on it. Great service all round Many thanks Brinley and Christine Meredith South WalesA previous customer - 21st July 2016
The chestnuts is at the edge of the village which is ideal for quiet getaway. Well equipped and ideal for family. enclosed garden means it is good for kids and a dog. Not far from Dartmouth ferry and Brixham. Some great walks locally if you don't mind a hill. Beds were comfortable and we had all we needed to be like home from home. Dishwasher freezer , washing machine. /dryer. WIFI. The village has a great butchers and a good local shop, pub was ok and others a little walk away.A previous customer - 8th June 2016
A lovely property, well equipped. Quiet location, but not remote. Close enough to easily access the coast, and all the other gems inland. We will return again.A previous customer - 13th April 2016
We enjoyed staying here two years ago and could not wait to go back. We will even be going back again! looking forward to it already :) The new addition of wifi was appreciated by the teenagers :) and the secure garden for the pooch makes it perfect. It's positioned in a lovely, quiet location and everyone we met was friendly. The local shop is a lovely convenience. The accommodation is well kitted out with good facilities, the kitchen has everything you need to use for home away from home. The front room is comfortable as are the bedrooms. I would highly recommend this property.A previous customer - 9th April 2016
We had a lovely week stay at The Chestnuts, our 3 children loved the garden and the nearby walks and wildlife, aswell as the coast. Although we had to get in the car quite abit to explore further afield. The Chestnuts was very spacious for our family of 6 and our large dog, it was clean, warm and cosy.A previous customer - 6th April 2016
We have stayed in the village before as we find the area very accessible to the surrounding towns such as Brixham and Dartmouth. The property size was nice and spacious for the 3 guest in our party. We had a nice stay at the property and would stay again. The only negative comment I would make is the location of the keysafe which is at the rear of the property. As we arrived in the dark there was no outdoor lighting on any sensor at the rear of the property so it was in complete darkness making it both dangerous and difficult to see where you were going. When we finally located the keysafe we found it very difficult to see the numbers to put the code in!A previous customer - 24th November 2015
Had a lovely stay at The Chestnuts. Really nice barn conversion all on one level. Very comfortable and well appointed. Absolutely everything you need is there, a real home from home. Huge enclosed garden safe for even the smallest dog, my girls loved it. Only problem was the parking. Even though there is plenty of it, for some reason you are not allowed to park a large vehicle. This is a big problem because the village has very narrow lanes and all available parking places are always full. We stayed in November so I would think that it is a huge problem in the summer. However the house is in a great location close to all the main towns and only a short drive away from a dog friendly beach.A previous customer - 21st November 2015
We spent a wonderful week at Chestnuts (myself, wife, daughter and her husband, for 3 days only, and 2 dogs). The weather was great all week, the accommodation was welcoming and comfortable. The dogs enjoyed the garden and it was warm enough to sit out and watch them play. Beaches and moors were close by so we had a wonderful week. My only problem was getting in at 79 and wearing vary focals it was not easy getting down and seeing the low level key safe but a friendly neighbor opened it for us. We would definitely use it again.A previous customer - 17th October 2015
This was our second visit to the chestnuts and was just as good as the year before . The cottage is located in a beautiful area called Gallampton . It is well furnished with a modern family bathroom ,living area is large and cosy ,well equipped kitchen and the master bedroom has a nice ensuite bathroom the garden is well maintained and large .there is a little convenience store in the village which sells just about everything and the pub in the village is nice and has good food Goodrington sands beach And the waterpark is just a couple of mins away,Brixham Paignton ,Torquay are all within easy reach. We will be definitely back Think the property could do with a sensor light of some sort at the rear of the property near the back gate ,it is very dark when coming back late at night Neil WiganA previous customer - 26th August 2015
The accommodation was of a high standard, a home from home feel, very spacious, clean, and a high level of thought from the owners as to what you would like when on holiday. tumble drier, washing machine, etc., etc., and not forgetting Wi-Fi, the list is endless. plus able to accommodate a small dog which for dog lovers is a massive yes. We will defiantly book this accommodation again. Great and many thanks StuartA previous customer - 18th May 2015
Lovely home, very comfortable and clean, lovely peaceful setting. Great now that it has all new bathrooms. Had a lovely stay with our golden retriever who loved the garden and the pheasants that visited, also you can walk down to galmpton creek and to Greenaway though there are signs saying no right of public access to the river at the creek, very pretty though.A previous customer - 14th April 2015
Stayed in the Chestnuts for the Half term break for a week. Lovely area, lovely home... away from home. Dog loved the private garden and the 3 bedroom spacious home is comfortable, clean and well equip. Will definitely return and recommend.A previous customer - 23rd February 2015
Lovely, spacious accommodation. Nice warm and comfy lounge that was ideal for the cold winter evenings. Very well equipped. Especially good was the two and half baths.A previous customer - 26th November 2014
We had a fantastic time, it helped that the weather was kind. The accommodation was perfect, plenty of room large enclosed garden and the host's were so lovely, we mentioned. We were going away to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and they sent us a card while we were there very thoughtful and lovely. Accommodation was clean, tidy and had plenty of space. So lovely and quiet and relaxing. Thank you Just what we needed to relax and unwind.A previous customer - 11th November 2014

We have just had a lovely week in The Chestnuts. It is a very comfortable, spacious, and clean property, set in a very peaceful part of Galmpton. It is set in it's own courtyard which is very quiet and is a short walk to the local pub and to the River Dart. The gardens are stunning!A previous customer - 4th June 2014
A very well styled property with spacious accommodation ... It does have everything you need for a great self catering break ... Sitting in the garden is just magical & totally relaxing and Galmpton Creek with its perfect views is just a short walk away. You can't fail to enjoy it here.A previous customer - 29th May 2014
From the moment we arrived at Chestnuts,we felt at home.Although just two plus dog, there is ample room for a family of six to stay at this delightfully private barn conversion. We often stay at self-catering cottages and this has everything you could wish for.The lovely garden is very safe for dogs, having a super patio on which to enjoy an al fresco meal or relax with a book! There are picturesque walks from the doorstep and Greenway is very closeby for a day out.In fact we left the car in its parking place for the majority of our eight days. The village has a handy post office shop for any groceries. We were lucky with having great weather and on the only rainy day we visited Coleton Fishacre,a must for any home/garden fan!Chestnuts is very tranquil(apart from the pheasant calling now and again!)private,an extremely clean, comfortable and welcoming home from home.We will certainly return and can highly recommend it to dog lovers and families alike.Photos are super but dont really show Chestnuts to its full potential.A previous customer - 22nd May 2014
Wonderful 4 day break. Plenty of room for family and 2 pooches. (Being able to take the dogs made the holiday complete.) Very comfortable. We all loved the area and the walks. Will definitely be back!A previous customer - 13th May 2014
