An impressive escape for families and larger groups alike, The Old Chapel comfortably accommodates up to sixteen guests throughout the year, and is a fantastic base to explore Dartmoor National Park, the Teignbridge coastline and the fabulous range of local shops and eateries on offer in the historic town of Chudleigh and surrounding area! Looking for something with the same great features but for less people? Outside of the main season we can also offer reduced occupancy discounts for a three bedroom configuration as The Old Chantry!

A large, pet-friendly family home that is perfectly suited to gentle get-togethers and family celebrations, The Old Chapel offers a mix of traditional character charm combined with the modern fixtures you would expect when staying in South Devon. Come rain or shine, families will love sitting out and watching the sun set in the private garden as the stream runs along the border, after a day of fun in the private 12m heated indoor pool with adjoining sauna room. Not in the mood for a dip? Why not release your competitive side with the games room, complete with pool table, darts board and table football, as well as selection of board games!

The Old Chapel has six bedrooms...

  • Master suite featuring 1 x 6' Super King size bed with a Tempur memory foam mattress and a Sky Q, Netflix and Spotify equipped TV (2 guests) with an en-suite luxury bathroom having a chromotherapy whirlpool bath, separate walk-in shower & 2 vanity basins.
  • Sarah’s ground floor family bedroom with 1 x 6' Super King size bed & 2 x 3' single beds (4 guests) with luxury en-suite bathroom containing a large bath, 2 vanity basins and two luxury walk-in showers in a wet room area.
  • Anna’s upstairs bedroom with 1 x 6' Super King size bed & 1 x 3' single bed (3 guests) with small adjacent bathroom.
  • Simon’s bedroom featuring 1 x 5' King size bed (2 guests).
  • Richie’s bedroom with 1 x 4’6” double bed with Tempur  memory foam mattress & 1 x 3' single bed (3 guests).
  • Elizabeth’s bedroom with 1 x 4’6” double bed (2 guests).

As well as the 3 bathrooms mentioned above, each with a WC, there is a further small bathroom with bath and shower over, sink & WC upstairs, and two further WCs on the ground floor.

Living Areas
Upstairs you will find a spacious comfortable lounge with a 55” HD TV & soundbar and the full Sky Q TV Package including sports and movies, free Netflix and Spotify. Next to the lounge is a large games room with a pool table, table football and dartboard and a selection of family-friendly board games. Downstairs there is a second comfortable sun lounge, also with a 55” HD TV, soundbar and the full Sky Q TV Package, free Netflix and Spotify, which has sliding doors leading to the garden.

A spacious farmhouse-style breakfast kitchen features a central island with large induction hob, a separate built in Neff oven, Rayburn solid fuel stove and an American style fridge freezer with water dispenser and ice maker. There is also a full-size dishwasher, and plenty of space for preparing delicious meals for the whole family. The large vaulted dining room is next to the kitchen, and a high-quality sound system provides music for both these rooms.  The kitchen also has a small TV with the full Sky Q package.

A separate Utility room houses a second dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The Local Area
Chudleigh is a town steeped in local history, and is an undiscovered gem in many ways. Although nestled away in the trees, Chudleigh is in fact less than ten miles from the centre of Exeter, with a great selection of nearby attractions to keep everyone entertained: Haldon Forest Park with Go Ape Forest Adventure, cycle hire and miles of woodland tracks (5 minute drive), Virtual Jet Centre (2 mins), Finlake Riding Centre (3 mins) and brilliant outdoor activities, including climbing, at The Rock Centre (2 mins). There are 3 golf courses all within a 6 mile radius, plus plenty of scenic walking on Dartmoor (15 minute drive) and along The South West Coastal Path.

If you're not looking for an active break then why not take a trip to the cathedral city of Exeter (15 mins drive), with its Princesshay and Guildhall shopping centres, or have a day relaxing on one of the surrounding beaches at Teignmouth (20 mins), Shaldon or Torbay.

Linen, towels & pool towels provided for your stay.

There is a gym area by the pool with cross trainer, rowing machine and exercise bike.
