Riding Light was originally the vicarage for St. Saviours, the church you see in the centre of the town. It is an apartment set over two floors and offers welcoming family accommodation, set in an unparalleled location with outstanding panoramic river and country views over Dartmouth and the River Dart. Guests can enjoy a fabulous view from almost every room. A short stroll downhill will take you into the centre of Dartmouth where you can explore the many highlights the town has to offer.

The fitted kitchen with breakfast table offers guests modern conveniences. In addition on the ground floor there is a large, bright dining room perfect for family meals. Spacious accommodation, lovely views
Riding Light is a lovely property in the harbour town of Dartmouth. We arrived and found it quite challenging to navigate the quaint little roads to find the appartment but once we'd negotiated the parking situation all was well! It is ideal when you come to Dartmouth that you find somewhere with its own parking space so Riding Light is perfect. The property is located on a hill above the town so be prepared for a fairly steep climb to get home, certainly not suitable for all (we all came home a little fitter!). The two storey appartment has lovely high ceilings and is very spacious which was great for my family. A real bonus for a family with teenagers is the excellent WIFI! The kitchen was well equipped and clean. Super views of the harbour from most of the rooms, the back bedroom had a nice view of the valley. We had a seagull's nest on the roof of the lower property which was a little smelly and noisy in the mornings but it was interesting to see the comings and goings of the birds. This property is great for a family - my husband and I had the lovely double room on the first floor while the children and friends had the upstairs three bedrooms and bathroom to themselves - perfect! There is a slight problem with the sash windows which look like they have fairly new sashes but they don't all work right - a couple of upper windows fall quite fast and are not held up correctly - this could be a dangerous with little children so be careful. Perfect Position for exploring Dartmouth and surrounding areas
House was great size for 8 people. unfortunately it needed hoovering and loo rolls in the toilet would have been nice. Dead flowers in the lounge not a good look. No Oven gloves in Kitchen. Set of matching wine glasses would be useful and more pint size glasses and a whisk. Lower bathroom u-bend was leaking in the cupboard. In the small bedroom the chest of drawers middle drawer runner broken. We found the views fabulous and would recommend the house to others. Fantastic and relaxing
We stayed in Riding Light in Dartmouth, top two floors of a former vicarage. Lovely property with lovely views down across Dartmouth, handily placed for the town and the roads out of town. Very well equipped. Parking, or rather, manouvering into the parking space was a bit challenging. By way of constructive criticism, there were no correct light bulbs for the dining room and one had gone before we arrived, there were only two tea towels that were little bigger the face cloths, and the hoover was completely choked. Ventilation of the top shower room really needs to be improved upon. Stunning views over Dartmouth
Fantastic, spacious house with amazing views and just a short stroll into Dartmouth. 4 kids with us who benefitted from such a large house to spread out in. A great place to stay with lots to do in the area.
This is a property with character and lots of space - except for parking. Knowing if the people who own the ground floor are likely to be around would help, especially if a group are staying with more than one car. Directing people up Vicarage Hill and then left into Fairview Road is OK if you are walking but not in a car as it is not possible due to the acute angle. Better to come down Fairview Road (driving on the pavement at times to avoid parked cars)then reverse into the drive. This area is not for those with mobility issues as the hills are steep and the passageways often have many steps. Having said that it is a lovely place to stay and explore the area whether by car, train, bus or boat. A very pleasant stay at Riding Light
Our first trip to South Devon and what better way to visit Dartmouth than to stay at Riding Light. This is a large comfortable house more than enough room to accommodate our party of 6 adults and 2 children. It has all modcons required and at no time did we lack anything. I cannot find fault with the accommodation and we enjoyed the week of sunshine we had. Dartmouth will be getting a second visit from us in the future. Only as a precautionary note we parked two small hatchback cars at Riding Light (one in garage) one on drive but it was very tight. A beautiful house with a very homely feel. Everything we needed for a very comfortable break with excellent views which we all enjoyed. Proximity and access to town was good. We appreciated the peace and quiet and the large sized rooms, especially the separate dining room and well equipped kitchen. We needed the heating on (it was December!) and were very pleased with the provision of radiators and the volume of heat provided, needless to say, it was not needed all the time. Lovely, spacious accommodation

Long weekend stay September 2012 - very enjoyable!
We stayed at Riding Light for a long weekend in September 2012 for my Mum's 70th birthday. It was a family get together of 6 adults and 3 toddlers, and we found that there was plenty of space at Riding Light for all of us - it was particularly good to have the lovely spacious lounge, with enough space for us all to sit down and relax and for the children to spread out their toys and books and play. We also thought the views were fantastic - we arrived in the dark but the next morning we were really delighted to look out of the lounge window and see the gorgeous view of the harbour and boats. The provision of towels and kitchen equipment etc was all good - the kettle was leaking but it was quickly replaced after a quick call to the office so no complaints there. Overall the apartment had a bit of a lived in look, but we didn't mind this at all being aware of the need to stop our toddlers making a mess of things - we actually thought this gave it a more homely feel. The only small down side was the parking, which we can see is difficult due to the steep and narrow lanes surrounding the cottage - we had three cars and found that it was too difficult to get one into the garage so we just parked one in front of the garage and two up the lane outside. It would be worth giving future visitors some suggestions about where else to park, especially for people who arrive late in the evening after a long journey.
