Orginally dating from around 1600, The Old Bakery is a Grade II Listed three storey townhouse steeped in history. This stunning house has recently been refurbished to the highest of standards whilst keeping the original charm and character. The original bread oven, which is believed to have been abandoned in the early 20th Century, has also been retained as an attractive feature.
The property offers sunny accommodation and is very comfortably furnished with a clean and neutral decor scheme. On the ground floor is the family kitchen and lounge with granite flooring throughout. There are four bedrooms, all spacious and very tastefully decorated, which include an ensuite master bedroom with a mezzanine gallery inside the room, an ideal set up for parents with young children.
Only steps away from a local deli, you can pick up freshly baked croissants in the morning or even have breakfast out the famous Cafe Alf Resco before spending the day enjoying the ancient towns cobbled streets, market and active port.
Dartmouth lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideally located for exploring the neighbouring towns and beaches of Torquay, Brixham, Salcombe and the wider South Hams. The stunning beach at Blackpool Sands is just ten minutes away by car. Woodlands Adventure Park, Agatha Christie's Greenway House, River Dart Boat cruises, fishing trips and the steam railway are all nearby, so the area is perfect for family holidays all year round, whatever the weather.
There are also a further two rooms on the third floor, one a spacious double bedroom, the fourth with a day bed that can be extended to a double.
All bedrooms have bedside tables and hanging space. The bedrooms on the second floor have TVs.

I'd just like to say thanks for the assistance given when the boiler stopped working, the response was first rate and the issue was resolved timely. Mr Mark Fulton - 31st October 2017
Lovely cottage in ideal location
We stayed at the old bakery which worked well for 2 families. Cottage has been restored well and has a lovely feel to it. It still has lots of old features which you can see throughout the property. Ideal location as its a 2 min walk to the harbour. We will visit Dartmouth again.Carol, Kent - 20th February 2016
My family and I had an amazing holiday, and our holiday home was the best yet!! It was far more spacious than we thought could be possible-and every effort has been made to make sure the house was child /toddler friendly, stair gates toys high chair etc. The children's bedroom with stairs that lead into our bedroom was a beautiful touch and the kitchen/diner made for a great family atmosphere. The property was clean and felt like a home for a week. We came as two parties together and there was enough space and communal area to thoroughly enjoy the stay. Low ceilings for my 6'5 husband but other than that no flaws at all!!!Gemma from Luton - 8th August 2015
Excellent holiday in Devon with the family, July weather wonderful.
Quirky accommodation that the Old Bakery is made the holiday somewhat different. The Bakery is very well equipped with all mod cons and is very comfortable for 6 to 8 people with plenty of bathrooms etc. Parking could be an issue at certain times but with a little 'inventive parking' we coped. I would not recommend this property for families with very young children or the elderly due to the 'roped' spiral staircases. All in all a great holiday helped by the beautiful weather.Chris from Cheshire. - 1st August 2015
Although we have had a nice stay in the end, the start to our holiday was unfortunate. Blueriver tried very hard to sort the situation out quickly, but waiting for clean bedding and a clean house until Monday did take the shine off the start of our holiday. We have been to The Old Bakery for 3 years in a row and would highly recommend Dartmouth as a fantastic family holiday location!Charlotte, Leicestershire. - 18th July 2015
overall we really enjoyed our stay at the old bakery , lovely master bedroom great views from it lovely kitchen ,same views. quality bedding and furnishing , towels etc the internal stairs are quite steep however great for kids not so for any older adults . the hose would probably benefit from blinds on the living room windows as people walking by tend to look straight at you , and theres a lot of people walk bytom and lynda from sunderland - 11th July 2015
Relaxing and peaceful
We really enjoyed staying at The Old Bakery. It was well situated to access the town centre as well as being a great base to explore neighbouring beaches and towns. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed, but there was just the two of us so we didn't utilise it to the max! It's character was lovely, although the quirky winding stairs was more of a challenge for my taller husband than me. Although it didn't stop us enjoying our stay, there was a slight feeling of staying in someones house rather than a rental as there was a pile of post in the kitchen, and more being delivered whilst we were there. We would definitely stay again.Maria and Paul, Kent - 10th October 2014
The best by far
Been in Dartmouth before but this accommodation is by far the best we have stayed in. After a very long overnight drive from Glasgow it was such a pleasant experience to come into a lovely clean house complete with a thoughtful welcome pack and a lit Christmas tree! The house has absolutely everything you would require. Perfectly situated, beautiful vista and we will be back. We would have no hesitation in recommending both the house and Blueriver Cottages, who were tremendous!Marion, Lucanne and family - 20th December 2013
Another lovely holiday. Really enjoy both the house and the location. Thank you as well for the care and attention from Blueriver staff.Sarah, Kent - 17th May 2013
The Old Bakery was fantastic, a lovely house, wonderfully appointed. Right in the centre of Dartmouth, location was superb. The Johns from Wales - 6th May 2013
The Old Bakery is in a great position conveniently within walking distance of all that Dartmouth has to offer. The cottage was ideal for five of us including two children. Only minor criticism was that the double bed in the main bedroom could have been larger. Otherwise the decor, layout, furnishings were amazing. Perfect for extended families or groups of friends.PHIL from Dorset - 21st April 2013
The Old Bakery Dartmouth
A very warm comfortable clean well equipped accommodation. Great location in the town and parking spaces were easily found even though it was half term holidays. We did miss having a small coffee table in the living room, it would have made all the difference. We always used the smith street entrance as far easier to access. A most enjoyable stay and hope to return one day. Blueriver Response Thank you for all your kind words about the Old Bakery. Following your feedback, there is now a nest of tables in the living room, which we hope will make future stays more comfortable.SPRCC from Oxford - 4th November 2012

The Old Bakery
A very relaxing break in a beautiful cottage!Salinder from Derbyshire - 20th September 2012
This was a comfortable, well furnished and spacious property in an excellent town center location. It is expensive but good value for money in terms of quality and the numbers it can sleep. There is lots of storage. Access from the Smith Street door is easier for pets and older and younger guests. The place is very well stocked for stair gates for both children and animals. The kitchen can be easily dog-proofed as well. The cabin bed above the en suite is bigger than it looks in the photos and a better adult size than expected. The two spiral staircases are awkward when carrying things, but have good hand holds and are safe for a range of ages. The kitchen is a lovely place to sit, cook and even wash up. Gorgeous view out of the en suite bedroom at night. Low windows make the living room very public for use during the day but it is comfortable and privacy is not a problem once the curtains are drawn. Wants - a coffee table in the living room and a splash-back behind the cooker please! Otherwise, lovely. When you come to replace the furnishings, darker carpets would be less scary for family use but the ground floor is well furnished in this respect. Can you consider beds without feet in future as well as most of my family are over 6'.Bowes from Kent - 16th September 2012
