The living room/dinning room is open plan to the kitchen. All have recently been refurbished with a lovely nautical feel. The property over looks the River Dart and historic Britannia Royal Naval College. There is a dining table for two and the kitchen benefits from a cooker, microwave and washing machine.
Quay Cottage is a delightful, recently refurbished holiday home in Kingswear offering stunning views over the old steam railway, the beautiful River Dart and the historic port of Dartmouth beyond. Kingswear is home to some lovely old pubs serving real ale and traditional food, a short ferry journey across the river takes you to Dartmouth with it's wonderful mix of shops, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and more! Ideal for walkers who want to enjoy the delights of the South Coast or just take a gentle stroll along the beautiful banks of the River Dart.
Note that Quay Cottage is a charming cottage that dates back over 200 years. It is a perfect summer retreat. As is the case in similarly very old buildings, there is an inherent susceptibility to damp and cold that not even 21st-century devices can fully overcome. We do however believe that you will appreciate the considerable character even though this pre-dates modern efficient building design.
Special Offer - If you book this property together with the neighbouring Quarterdeck you will enjoy a discount of 15% of the total booking cost!
The double bedroom offers outstanding views over the beautiful River Dart across to Dartmouth. It has a king size double bed, wardrobe and dressing table.
The bathroom features a white WC and hand basin and has a walk-in shower cubicle.
There is free/restricted parking available in and around the village. A parking permit can be provided for the space of one car in the Dart Haven Marina car park by arrangement with the agency.

Great location and views over the River Dart
All the benefits of a relatively flat approach (without great flights of steps) but with great views to Dartmouth and over the river. Very clean and well presented; the complementary bottle of wine was much appreciated, and was worth the ferry trip over to Dartmouth to get rid of the empty bottle at the bottle bank! Some problems with opening the key safe on arrival but managed to get the keys after 10 minutes fiddling with the key code. Also it was a shame that two of the window blinds were missing, including the one in the bathroom so had to resort to using one of the bath towels as a curtain at night.David, Eynsford Kent - 16th July 2016
Lovely little cottage with fantastic views over the river dart. The cottage was very well equipped and just a few yards from the pub, which serves good pub grub a bit of an eccentric landlord so make sure you book if you want to eat there! We found buying a book of tickets for the ferry crossing to Dartmouth was really good value. We had a lovely week but unfortunately didn't have good weather! Had we had lovely sunny days and warm evenings we would have wanted to sit outside admire the view etc but there is no outside space with this cottage, so if you want alfresco dining this may not be the cottage for you, but we couldn't fault the accommodation or attention to detail, plus a really comfortable bed with great views!Tess - 23rd June 2016
Very nice cottage, with excellent views of the river and Dartmouth, access to Dartmouth good as ferry close by,not an awful lot to do and see in Kingswear, but there is a local shop close by for basics.Only slight problems with cottage was wobbly table wants skipping, and lack of a tray in the shower to put bits on. Overall fine stay,Dartmouth could do with a decent cafe with outside sitting for those with dogsDavid from Bardwell - 11th June 2016
Beautiful holiday, cottage ideal for day visits around the area and comfortable to come home to.
Everything in the cottage you could need. Very clean and comfortable. Well thought our key pick up and the parking permit was a godsend. We went out everyday into surrounding area and it was so convenient to get off the ferry or train and a short walk home. Thank you we will certainly come again soon.Jean from Royal Wootton Bassett - 28th May 2016
The View - Wow!
A very compact cottage, with good facilities nearby -i.e.-a good local shop, a café, and two pubs, both serving food. The access for a car is VERY narrow, but once you have unloaded the parking provided in the Marina car park is excellent. All considered a holiday to remember and worthy of a return visit.KW South Gloucestershire - 19th September 2015
Fantastic view and location for the regatta
Views and location brilliant. Very small but the cottage had all you need for a great breakCaroline - Bristol - 1st September 2015
Cosy cottage with great location
In the heart of Kingswear, with views through the living room windows to die for. A couple of points to think about - the water is set to a very high temperature, almost scalding - the wobbly table takes a bit of getting used to! - the new wifi installed while we were there didn't work as well as the one that was there when we arrived However, despite a damp start to the week, we had a great time ThanksPete from Bucks - 29th August 2015
Excellent - even on the rainy days!
The view over the River Dart was wonderful at all times of day and in all weathers. Even on the most dismal day, we were entertained by all that was happening on and around the river. We liked the cottage very much and appreciated a few thoughtful details missing from other self-catering cottages e.g. bedside lights bright enough for reading and hooks on the bedroom and bathroom doors. We noticed you'd responded to earlier complaints and that now the wi-fi works perfectly and there's a blind in the bathroom! Thanks for the welcoming wine, fudge and marmalade. (Our only very minor complaint, which you can omit from the online review, is that no black dustbin bags were provided even after we asked for them, so we had to keep stuffing out rubbish in local waste bins.)Helen from Birmingham - 15th August 2015
Fond memories of Quay Cottage will stay with me forever. Just fantastic.
My Son & I stayed at Quay Cottage for three nights as a retreat and to spend some special time together whilst I am undergoing treatment for cancer. The whole experience from booking to departing was exceptional . The complimentary goodies were a lovely surprise as was the privilege discount card. The cottage was warm & cosy & in an idillic location. We spent quite a lot on ferry fares , so would have appreciated a heads up before we arrived as to the pre-payment which saved you money. We used the lower ferry by foot as it was the nearest. We ate at Kendrick's, Rockfish & Moma's Kitchen, all were superb & I would thoroughly recommend them all. Thank you .Sarah from Worcestershire. - 4th July 2015
We have had a very enjoyable stay in Quay Cottage. A really cute and cosy cottage to stay in.
The views from every room in the cottage is amazing. Every thing you need is in the cottage. We have been so lucky to have lovely sunny weather just about the whole week of our stay, allowing us to see the beautiful local coastal areas close to Kingswear and Dartmouth. So much on the doorstep of this cute cottage, grocery shop, post office, lovely pubs and restaurants, the steam train, ferry for cars and walk on passengers and of course buses. So much to see and do. Loved it.Annie and Mike from Windsor - 18th April 2015
Quay Cottage offers the most perfect setting to absorb the sights, smells and sounds of a 1950s steam railway, a busy boating environment and the very best of fresh fish and seafood.Somerset Mike - 20th September 2014
We loved the position of cottage was perfect and the view fantastic it was just what we wanted to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and will be recommending Blueriver Cottages and have taken brochures to show friends..unfortunately we were unable to leave positive comments in visitors book as we forgot our pen!!!! Your staff were extremely helpful with all my enquiries and dealt with them effectively and promptly so thank you to them..the fudge was delicious and the wine also thank you and we will defintley being using your services again.Mr Richard & Mrs Tracey McCarthy - 11th May 2014
Just needed a little more attention to detail. Although a hair dryer was stated in particulars, I couldn't find one. And would love to have cooked casseroles for night time meals but no casserole dished or pyrex dishes provided. Hope this is useful and was provided in a constructive way.Frances - 15th March 2014
Shame wifi didn't work, which is why I booked it. Nice touches on arrival, good facilites.Sue from Basingstoke - 5th October 2013
Excellent clean modern and cosy cottage with everything we needed plus fabulous views over the river
We didn't need to take our car out of the car park. We were able to visit places by boat or train or on foot. very relaxing holiday.Pam and Brian - Halifax - 31st August 2013
Very comfortable cottage, ideal location for marina, station, Dartmouth. Lovely views day and night, always something new to see.Liam & Geri, Truro - 18th May 2013
Lovely Christmas break
We had a lovely time despite the weather.Sally and Chris - 27th December 2012
Super location lovely cottage perfect for visiting this area, tastefully decorated with stunning views, always things to watch out of the window. The road is not suitable for a normal car as it funnels too narrow between buildings just after the property you have to therefore reverse backwards out of it over a busy road, which is also rather narrow for turning in. The outside dustbin was full when we came and was not emptied in the week that we visited, the notice over the bins is slightly confusing ? Dartmouth has to be reached via the ferry which runs day and night, at 2.20 per trip for two pedestrians, so it costs nearly a fiver to get to the supermarket, as the shops are all on the Dartmouth side. After our first visit I can certainly recommend the location and this idyllic cottage and would certainly consider returning again in the near future.Ben from Holland - 20th August 2012
Lovely Cottage, Great Views.
We had a very enjoyable week at Quay Cottage which was so relaxing and comfortable, everything to make our stay a memorable one had been thought of. So convenient for so many great places of interest - we hardy needed to use the car. We hope to return soon.Janet from Lichfield - 14th July 2012
Relaxing , Comfortable & Memorable.
We have had 10 lovely days staying at Quay Cottage. The position was so convenient for the Steam Railway & Ferry to Dartmouth. The views were beautiful & seemed to change each time you looked out. The weather could have been kinder but the cottage was warm, comfortable & had everything we needed to make our holiday complete. The only problem we had was on arrival as we approached Higher St from the narrow end which made it impossible for us to get our large car near the property. Clearer details to the Marina car park would also have been useful. We went home feeling more relaxed but wishing we could stay longer. We would recommend this cottage to our friends.Liz & Steve from Birmingham - 24th June 2012
Quay Cottage Review
This property was very clean, comfortable and a thoughtful attitude to provide for every need.Views were a real pleasure and it's siting made easy access to Dartmouth town and it's venues. A special place with lots to appreciate.Jim & Wendy from Rayleigh, Essex - 14th May 2012
What a view!
We loved it from the minute we arrived. Perfect spot with pub at the end of the lane. We even had fireworks from the Naval College on our last night. The whole area is well worth a visit and this is a cosy cottage for two. We will definitely return.Thompsons, Aylesbury - 14th April 2012
Just a short message to say how thrilled we were with Quay Cottage in Kingswear. Marvellous accommodation and equally marvellous views. My wife Jill and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Tony & Jill Joyce - 11th September 2011
We loved the cottage!
Thank you so much, we loved the cottage, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and the views were to die for. I could live there all the year round. Best wishes, Carol JacobsCarol Jacobs - 19th August 2011
