Overview

Cherry Trees is a detached 3 bedroom house that enjoys one of the best views in the South West of England! This lovely home overlooks the beautiful River Dart, Dartmouth Castle and out to sea. A family home originally built in the mid 1960's, Cherry Trees was extensively redecorated in 2010-2011 and now affords a modern, comfortable and relaxing home set in a superb location. There are influences from the Arts and Crafts movement throughout the property that have been tastefully added by the Owner, giving it a unique feel. It is spacious and light and offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the delights of one of the most beautiful part of Devon.

This is a real family home that has been thoughtfully decorated throughout using natural teak hardwood on the floors and on some of the walls. The sunlight floods into all of the rooms giving the property a bright and airy feel. The kitchen is recently updated and includes many built-in appliances. Outside there is a large terrace to sit and enjoy those spectacular views, perfect for those Pimms or Gin and Tonic moments! Just a short walk down to the village is the historic Steam Railway station and the quaint River Ferry where you can enjoy a 5min journey over the river as a foot passenger to the historic port of Dartmouth, famous for the Pilgrim Fathers and the Britannia Royal Naval College.

Living/dining

This lovely spacious teak panelled room has outstanding views out towards Dartmouth Castle. With sliding patio doors you can bring the outside in. Unique individual pieces of furniture offer seating for 4 and an electric flame fire is also there to keep the chill off in the evenings. There are six dining room chairs and a table. The wall units offer an office space to sit and work at if required and there is also a TV and CD player. From the hall way you enter a lovely sitting area, again with unique pieces of furniture and those amazing views of the river. A door leads out on the the patio area and the room is flooded with light.

Kitchen

This is a newly refurbished kitchen with all mod cons including a dishwasher, oven and fridge. A washing machine and dryer can be found off the hall way in the cupboard next to the bathroom.

Sleeping

Situated at the end of the hall way is a good sized double bedroom with built in wardrobes and chest of drawers.

Situated down a small flight of stairs is one of two bedrooms. The first is a large bright room enjoying those stunning views from the window or step outside through the patio door onto the patio and the garden. There is a double bed, a chest of drawers and a dressing table with pretty patterned soft furnishings.

Opposite Bedroom 2 is this good sized double with free-standing wardrobe and views of the river.

Bathroom

The property benefits from a newly tiled shower over bath, sink and WC. There is also the provision of a separate cloakroom.

Parking

Parking is at the top of the drive and there is ample space for up to three cars.

A perfect peaceful location with a beautiful view.
Cherry Trees is a wonderfully quiet, spacious bungalow with a superb view over the river Dart from the lounge, the hallway which has 2 chairs from which to enjoy it and from 2 of the 3 bedrooms. There is a steep 10 to 15 minute walk down to the Kingswear Village Stores or to the frequent lower ferry over to Dartmouth. The driveway is also steep but has a handrail. We enjoyed the activity of the river from up high and the quietness of the surroundings. Also the opportunity to walk out from the cottage. Angela and Liz - 9th April 2016

Roomy with a view
Cherry Trees is a wonderful property, well equipped (see below though) with oodles of space for people and cars (rare in Kingswear)and the view over the river/sea and Dartmouth Castle is superb (also rare). High up and south facing it gets the sun from 9am-8pm+ in August whilst most of Dartmouth is in shade. The pain for that wonderful view is the slog back up the hill from the ferry. It's a killer, take your time unless you are a gazelle like my son. Yes, it's only half a mile but almost vertical. You get fit if you rent Cherry Trees! If you can live with its quirks you'll go back time and again. FOR: Fab view, sunny aspect, huge amount of space, nice rooms and kitchen, very private, good parking, nice patio table and chairs (read the manual, duh!), Blue River welcome package was a nice touch consumed very quickly, good Wi-Fi (BT 7Mb download). AGAINST: Walk (puff) back up from (pant) the ferry (ok, we knew when we booked), big hole in parking apron needs filling or you'll ground out backing off the apron (that one needs sorting Blue River or I'll bring a bag of cement next year - you can edit this bit out), 5 forks (really? even for 4 people that's a bit of a joke. But there were 6 jugs/gravy boats. Eh? Needs a bit of common sense applying it's not an expensive fix), only 1 pillow each (we resorted to dressing gowns and jumpers stuffed under), no privacy locks on either the bathroom or toilet (learn to whistle). The positives out-way the negatives hugely and we will be back many times until someone sticks a £2M villa on it. Rent it now whilst you can. Dave & Gwen from Manchester - 29th August 2015
Amazing views!
We chose Cherry Trees for the views and we weren't disappointted. They are stunning! Although the decor is quite old fashioned, we were aware of this and it wasn't a problem. However, with a few changes the house could be lovely. For example, some more comfortable seating in the main room especially another sofa would be welcome. Additional outdoor seating -the house sleeps 6 but there were only 2 outdoor chairs. The kitchen was very well equipped except there wasn't enough cutlery. These are minor complaints but would instantly make the house more comfortable. All in all we have had a very relaxing stay, in a fabulous, peaceful location. Lucas family, London - 1st August 2015
Great location and view

Tranquil location, stunning views but the bathroom requires attention.
Cherry trees is set in a stunning location. So peaceful and the views from the living, dining and bedrooms are breath taking. We spent many a happy hour bird watching from the patio and in the surrounding woodland. The patio is also a sun trap late afternoon so many a cream tea was had watching the boats coming and going. The location and resulting views are this properties greatest assets. The house is dated in places but it woks in the main because the furniture and décor has almost become retro, particularly in the lounge with its cute swivel chairs and the dining room with its old coffee cups. The kitchen is modern though and the beds were very comfortable and the bed linen of a high standard. One or two niggles need to be remedied though. The bathroom window lock was very loose, which made us reluctant to open and close it in case it fell off. We suspect this has been a problem for some time as black mold covers most of the ceiling and coving. The bathroom has been retiled around the bath area but the new tiles don't match the 1970s tiles on the other walls in the bathroom. The older tiles are also covered in mold in places. The bathroom definitely needs attention. We also reported a broken window lock in one of the bedrooms - the window would not shut at all and a burglar only had to push the window and it would swing open. I know Kingswear has a low crime rate but we were at the house for 10 days and it wasn't fixed during our stay. This is unacceptable. Neither the linen nor towels were changed after 7 days nor was the house cleaned. Every other holiday let we have stayed at has had a light clean and a change of linen and towels after 7 days. Maybe this is a service the management agency or owners could consider in future? Other than those 2 problems we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and would happily return next year but would hope the problems identified above had been remedied. Christine - 30th September 2014

Great cottage, great holiday
We were in a cottage near Babbacombe last year and I thought that would be hard to beat. I was wrong - Cherry trees was even better ! The bungalow was spacious enough for all my family, well equipped and the views were stunning. the terrace was lovely and you could sit there all day watching the world passing by on the river. the garden was lovely and there was an interesting variety of wild life to be seen. We were lucky with the weather, so sitting on the terrace was really nice. The village on the Kingswear side is quaint and old fashioned but not easy to get around by car but you can't have it both ways. If you cross the river by ferry, the Dartmouth side is busy and lively with some nice old buildings, pubs, shops , etc. All in all, I would certainly come back again. Stunning view, spacious accomodation, ideal holiday location
It was great to meet you all in Dartmouth thanks for the bottle of wine and the strawberry jam. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cherry Trees and thanks for making it possible to visit it. we will definitely be rebooking next year. We have been to a few cottages over the years and just a suggestion if we may would be placing a pint of milk in the fridge. It was not so much a problem as there was only two of us but maybe the owner would consider a second sofa or a bigger sofa and softer lighting eg uplighters/lamps in the lounge to make it even more comfortable to enjoy the views! thanks again. Excellent holiday home, good service from Blue River Cottages
As a family of four we had a great holiday staying at Cherry Trees. There's lots of space, inside and out, the cottage has everything we needed and there are fantastic views of the mouth of the river and Dartmouth. The service from Blue River Cottages was very good. The most beautiful veiw imaginable
The best view on the south coast, a great venue to enjoy the surrounding area, a large lounge to suit all are needs. Good size bedrooms and a patio that is large and wind free. We loved the location of the house (though a very steep walk back up the hill!) The house was exactly as described in the brochure/ website (which we were very pleased with after last summers horrific holiday!) It was clean, tidy and had everything in that we needed - a home from home. The service that we received was very clear, efficient and friendly. We would like to say a big thank you to the owners of the cottage and to Blueriver cottages for making this one of the best holidays we have ever had. We had a wonderful stay at Cherry Trees and really enjoyed the comfort, the view and the warm and cosy atmosphere. Review of Cherry Trees - Relaxing, stunning views, very special place
I would come back to Cherry Trees at a moments notice - because it's location is Priceless. I couldn't take my eyes off the view and we loved being just the right distance away from the 'action' at Dartmouth. However, please, please, please fix the heating. It was really uncomfortably chilly and I resorted to 2 x duvet covers during the night (which would not have been possible if all rooms were taken) and there were no extra blankets provided.
