Get away from it all! The Quarterdeck is a stunning one bedroom apartment with gorgeous views overlooking the beautiful River Dart towards Dartmouth and the imposing Britannia Royal Naval College. This truly romantic retreat has been completely refurbished and includes an open plan lounge and a spiral staircase that leads up through exposed roof joists to a very comfortable built in double bed and sitting area. Close by is the wonderfully welcoming Ship Inn serving superb food and the Steam Packet Inn both with log fires and massive views over the River Dart. The village stores are a few yards away and supply all the basics.
Special Offer - If you book this property together with the neighbouring Quay Cottage you will enjoy a discount of 15% of the total booking cost!
The lounge/dining area is open plan with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. From the dining table there are views over the historic Steam Railway, the bustling Marina and the beautiful River Dart with Dartmouth in the distance. There is a comfortable sofa with foot rests, an old cast iron range with a warm flame effect fire, colourful rugs, throws and cushions and a new big flat screen TV which unfortunately doesn't have built in DVD. There are also copious books and hooks, a wardrobe and cupboard for clothes and walking boots and some nautical themed decorations. Free WIFI is available.
The kitchen is fully fitted and includes electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, sink and drainer, portable wooden island providing additional work surface and ample cupboard and shelf space. There are also outstanding views over the river from the kitchen window.
A truly romantic treat. The bedroom is on a mezzanine floor level above and is accessed via a spiral staircase which leads up through exposed wooden roof joists. A large dormer window floods light into this area of the apartment. There is ample seating with shelves for drinks, books and the obligatory binoculars to study the ever changing scenes below. With a large built in double bed, sail loft doors, portholes, curtains, captains chest of drawers and views of the river from your bed it is easy to imagine that you are at sea and have just climbed into your bunk space! Especially delightful on cold stormy nights! An additional sofa -bed is now available for an extra guest or two.
Off the lounge is a bright, warm and tastefully fitted new shower room including a white sink and WC, heated towel rail, extraction fan and a large wall cupboard plus lots of hooks.
There are hanging baskets, two chairs and a table to the front of the apartment at floor level for those sunny morning coffee or evening Pimms moments!
There is free/restricted parking available in and around the village. A parking permit can be provided for the space of one car in the Dart Haven Marina car park by arrangement by the agency.

Perfect for trainspotters or those into boats!
Excellent views of the river as it is right in front of the apartment, and it is the same with the steam railway line. Relax by the window no matter what the weather is and enjoy the view of boats and steam trains coming in and out. Easy access to Dartmouth to sample different food and enjoy the local shops. Quite easy to get to the rest of Devon from Kingswear. Can't ask for anything more. I'll certainly be back, having stayed here three times in one year!Paul from Reading - 9th July 2016
quiet and relaxing
lovely cotttage overlooking the river Great food especially in the steam packet inn good base for exploring the area Everything you need for a weeks staybedford - 12th September 2015
Cosy, quirky cottage, great location, best view in Dartmouth!
The Quarterdeck is a quirky, unique property, great location, ticked all the boxes, very small but great for us...the bin lid didn't close and the kettle leaked - these were minor things but nothing mattered when you see the view from all the windows, but especially the bedroom viewpoint - the best view in Dartmouth. We looked out every morning with coffee and every evening with a glass of wine, watching the boats and all the goings on of the harbour. We looked through the comments book and thought it was a really great touch to see the owners comments to people's questions/issues - it showed a real care and thoughtfulness to improve the property and keep people going back - we certainly will return - don't sell it to anyone! :)Emma and Emma - 11th July 2015

A wonderful couples' retreat
A delightful, compact, property that is perfectly situated for everything you could want without having to drive everywhere. Best if you are under 6 foot tall, but the unbelievable views across the river to Dartmouth do make it worth an occasional bent neck.Mark from Gloucestershire - 5th July 2014
A gem of a place to stay - tranquil and restorative!
A really well equipped cottage - a lot of thought has clearly gone into how to set the cottage up for maximum ease and comfort of the guests. We loved being ' in' - cooking, enjoying the views - and we found it so easy to explore the area - by ferry, boat and on foot. Thank you for the warm welcome and great service - it makes such a pleasant holiday even more specialAmy from London - 28th September 2013
Beautifully positioned overlooking the river, The Quarterdeck proved a lovely base.
Once we had adjusted to the limited space in the Quarterdeck and had successfully negotiated the 'tight' and steep spiral staircase, the cottage proved an ideal base in an ideal position to enjoy a lovely week in and around Kingswear/Dartmouth. There is a wealth of things to see and do including river, train and bus visits to lovely places and there are walks to suit all tastes and abilities. Meals everywhere have all been exceptionally good with a real variety. NB The limited space and steep staircase would make The Quarterdeck entirely unsuitable for the elderly or infirm. Please make this clear in the brochure/on the website to avoid inappropriate booking.Roger & Janet from Cheshire - 14th September 2013
Great location, nicely appointed
A great little place, which has a great location just up from the lower ferry, with great views looking across the river to Dartmouth - which is probably a better way to see Dartmouth than being in Dartmouth. The apartment was equipped with everything that we needed during our stay - no complaints.Paul & Fran - 31st August 2012
