Cant fault the holiday home, we had the best time there, a short walk down hill to the heart of Torquay. Mr and Mrs Bell were fabulous, nothing too much trouble and made to feel welcome. Hopefully we will be staying there again in future holidays. Have already recommended to others...P Standage - 8th May 2017
Mark and Julia were extremely helpful and welcoming and we would be happy to stay again if in the areaA previous customer - 23rd February 2017
A nice place to stay in walking distance of cockington. The landlady was very helpful during our stay. Thank youA previous customer - 9th November 2016

We had a lovely stay, it was secure and private. We had all the amenities that we required as it was well equippedA previous customer - 14th October 2016
This holiday was excellent with Mrs bell;s help (nothing was too much trouble) we were able to short cut finding good restaurants and not to mention the now famous delicious cream tea. This was a last minute booking which we would not normally do ,and it turned out to be a great success, even the weather was good.So thanks again to Julia & mark (Mr 7Mrs Bell}, why be so formal with such nice people.A.G.A previous customer - 14th September 2016
This place really was a home from home. Lovely private and secure location, almost everything within walking distance, we only used the car once during our stay, although it is a bit of a walk back up the hill from Torqauy but if necessary a taxi is cheap and easy to find and this did not distract from our excellent stay. Shop/pubs within walking distance. Excellent facilites, the dishwasher was much appreciate, who wants to wash pots on holiday! And the wifi was well used by our teenage son. Would defiantly recommend this place to adults and families with older children.A previous customer - 24th August 2016
The apartment was very comfortable and well appointed. On entry it was immaculate and so welcoming. It had all the mod cons too. Julia had a devonshire tea ready for us ( which was delicious ) and was on hand to answer any questions. If I could offer any suggestions for improvement then I would say a draining rack for the dishes would be useful if you don't use the dish washer. There was literally no pantry space for putting away your groceries and although the fridge was tucked away, it could hardly fit much in it. The weather was hot and the place got uncomfortably warm ( esp in the main bedroom ). A fan for sleeping would have been welcome. The bathroom had no window and got very steamy. The walls and floors got covered in condensation quickly so there was a mouldy-ish smell in there. The apartment's location meant that without a car you would need to walk some hills to get to the beach and back. Grocery shopping would be hard. Having said all of this, I think it was a lovely apartment, very comfortable and the host was great but we would probably choose a cheaper place closer to the beach next time.A previous customer - 17th August 2016
The place is lovely and ideal for young children as there are no stairs and gated access. The owners are really friendly and the property is kept lovely and clean. The walk into Torquay town is about 20 mins with kids and the beach is closer so makes a great base for the area.A previous customer - 20th July 2016
Great place, well appointed and a very warm welcome from the owner. We will go back. Especially liked no visitor book for the grumpy to snipe in. Good visitor information provided. Loved the showerA previous customer - 20th October 2015
The cottage was ideal for our holiday and was very clean and tidy on our arrival. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and a delicious cream tea from Mark's mum Sue which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The owners, Mark and Julia, were very helpful throughout our stay. The cottage was very comfortable and an ideal holiday retreat. The sea front was less than a 10 minute walk and without doubt we will stay in the cottage again.A previous customer - 15th October 2015
We had a great week and were looked after really well by Julia, from the complimentary cream tea on arrival to the loan of some Postman at DVDs to keep our little boy happy :-) As well as being very comfortable and well equipped, the property is a great base while staying in Torquay - a short walk to the local co-op (very handy) and it is also walkable to the sea front so it was nice not to have to take the car everywhere. A bit hilly on the way back, but that's Torquay for you... We hope to come back again next year!A previous customer - 13th October 2015
We received a warm welcome from Julia at Cockington Manor Lodge. The layout and presentation of the accommodation was first class with the added extra of an afternoon cream tea awaiting us. The beds were very comfortable and good quality towels were provided. The added on- site secure parking is a big bonus. The only draw back was the access to the property was on a steep road and not just the suggested twenty minute walk from the harbour, a good ten minute walk to the promenade on the way down, but quite a different hike on the way back. After walking down in the evening for dinner we found plenty of taxi's available for the journey back. We had a very comfortable stay.A previous customer - 20th September 2015
The accommodation is as advertised with a light, modern and comfortable feel. Was slightly misled by the references to Cockington Manor and therefore disappointed not to have at least a view of a garden or greenery. Felt a little bit claustrophobic at times with small children and the tantalising corner with windows but no door to sit out privately.. The location and parking is excellent.A previous customer - 25th August 2015
Beautiful lodge/apartment, very clean and tidy. About a 10/15 minutes’ walk to Cockingham village and the sea front. It was lovely and quiet. Julia was really nice and had left us a cream tea for when we arrived, she had set up a cot for our baby so we didn’t have to mess around putting a travel cot up and she even made us dinner reservations for a local pub for the night we arrived. it was very homely , there were a couple of days during our stay where it rained ALL day but there was enough room for us to stay in and not feel cramped, we had our own space. The kitchen has everything you could need and we went to a local supermarket and ate in a couple of days. Would defiantly recommend.A previous customer - 18th August 2015
Very clean and tidy, close to the beach and the service was excellent 5/5Mrs W - Corby - 17th August 2015
Cockington Manor Lodge is lovely and has everything for a great holiday. The Lodge is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Julia is very friendly and helpful and provided a cream tea when we arrived, which was lovely, after a long journey. The lodge is about a 20-25 minute walk to Torquay and a 10-15 minutes to Cockington - it's a bit hilly but this was not a problem for us. Everything is close by and easy to reach. We only used the car once while we were there.A previous customer - 28th July 2015
The place was beautiful and exactly as advertised. Location was very handy for Cockington and Torquay though the narrow roads are a real challenge. We did walk o the nearest pub one night but the walk back uphill is not recommended for anyone other than young and fit hikers. A car is an absolute necessity. The local Co-op is handy for shopping and larger stores easy to get to. One small niggle is the lack of a dryer in the apartment. A washing machine is provided but not much use without a dryer even in a British summer. Perhaps swap out the redundant freezer? The appliances are all modern and very clean and we all enjoyed our stay immensely. Many thanks to the caretaker who was always ready to give advice - though it was not needed.A previous customer - 11th July 2015
We found the accommodation clean and comfortable but because the address said cockington we thought we could walk into the village, it was too far as was the walk to torquey, we also needed 2 toilets and a small garden to catch some sun after a day out. We would have liked to hand the key back and say our thank yous but there was no one around.A previous customer - 23rd June 2015
This property was extremely clean and tidy and had everything that we needed for a relaxing stay. The owners were friendly and left us to our own devices, but were on site if we needed any help or advice. Torquay is only 20 minutes walk away, but some of the walk is up hill (we are all walkers, so we didn't mind). Cockington is only 5 minutes walk away and it is a lovely area to explore. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, get away from it all break. We would love to return.A previous customer - 8th June 2015
Mark and Julia were really helpful from start to finish with booking the cottage, I booked from the USA and they were quick to respond to any questions I had. Location, decoration, comfort really were just perfect. They have thought of everything. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to my friends and family and hope to get a chance to return.A previous customer - 22nd April 2015
Excellent stay. Nice position. Mark and family were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Good fittings, although sofa was perhaps coming to the end of it's life. Would happily book again.A previous customer - 17th April 2015
What a fantastic holiday, Mark the owner is one of the loveliest people you could wish to meet, he showed us round the property and explained how things worked etc. The property itself is a home from home, so clean and comfortable, lovely, cosy and warm, you couldn't ask for more. The cream tea on arrival was a really nice touch. The walk into Cockington was a delight, as was the walk into Torquay, we did both walks several times which meant we didn't have to use the car which is what we wanted to do. The holiday was so good we will be going back again next year. Thanks Mark for what you did for us.A previous customer - 28th October 2014
The property was very modern and spacious,Mark was very welcoming on arrival he showed us around and how to use everything. As this seemed to be a new venture for him, there was a few things needed-A clock in the bedrooms and perhaps a comfier sofa. It was also a shame that the small piece of garden form the lounge was not accessible,I would have thought this would be a real asset in summer for those wanting to eat outside. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and would definitely return!A previous customer - 24th October 2014
When we first arrived, we were greeted by the owners, a very nice couple; always willing to help. They also provided a delicious cream tea to get our Devon holiday started. What a lovely touch!! The property was in a very good state, the double bed was comfortable, and the accommodation generally was excellent. The location was in a pretty Devon lane - you probably would need your own car - unless you enjoyed walking. Quite honestly it was in a very good location, and local shops in nearby Chelston. I did say to the owner that there was a musky smell coming from the smaller bedroom. Without hesitation he said that he would look into it - and I genuinely believe that he would. He was so obliging, and felt that he wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Would I stay there again? Definitely. As I said in my title 'An excellent find'.A previous customer - 2nd October 2014
We have recently stayed at Cockington Lodge and it was lovely, a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The accommodation is lovely, clean, private and my son especially loved his rather large bedroom! The location is easily accessible to either Cockington Village and Torquay Town Centre, we walked to both of these every day. Mark was very hospitable and even though we did not trouble him whilst we were there, nothing was a problem if you needed him. A lovely place to stay, would be happy to return again! We enjoyed our stay at the Cockington Manor. The landlord is very helpful and made sure that wie bad whatever we needed during our stay. Thanks again and greetings from Switzerland.A previous customer - 20th August 2014
We have a 20 month old child and the property was simply fantastic. They had thought of everything from black out blinds to highchairs and toilet seats which made our stay so simple. The enclosed driveway was great also as we could unpack and load the car in saftey and yet still have our toddler running around. The location is very good just on a steep hill but easily walkable.A previous customer - 15th July 2014
We were made to feel very welcome by Mark and family. The accommodation was very modern, confortable, and well equipped. A nice touch was finding a cream tea and a bowl of fruit on arrival. We would definately recommend this holiday home. Joan and Terry from bedfordshire.A previous customer - 1st July 2014
We stayed at Cockington Manor Lodge in April for a 5 day Easter break with our 2 sons 16 and 17 years old. The location was ideal for the coast and the town, both in walkable distance. There are plenty of places to bike ride and walk on coastal paths and through villages, lovely beaches, swimming pools and a big water slide park. The views along the cliff coastal paths near Hill Head towards Kingsclere are lovely. For younger children there are the boating ponds, the zoo, stream train and plenty more. Cockington is a picture postcard village. Mark and his family were very hospitable and made us feel extremely welcome. They recommended places to eat, loaned us dvds and ensured we had all information on the area. The lodge was really comfortable, with all mod cons…an ideal space for all ages. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend Cockington Manor Lodge, we feel sure you will be as well looked after as we were. Bennett familyA previous customer - 12th May 2014
