Totnes Holidays

Totnes is a very special and unique market town in the heart of beautiful South Devon and is located 13 miles north of Dartmouth. Positioned on a hill that slopes down to the River Dart, Totnes is surrounded by rich and inspiring countryside.

Blessed with a fascinating history, this stunning location has one of Britain’s most beautiful and historically significant waterways, the River Dart. The river, one of several interesting waterways in the area, is home to a wide range of birds and animals. This diversity includes little egrets, cormorants, kingfishers, grey seals and the elusive otter. Totnes is always fascinating to wander around. There are few English towns where the thousand year-old shape of the original borough can be seen so clearly, or where past and present are so closely interwoven.

This cosmopolitan town has a wonderful bohemian culture and an international reputation for its lively and diverse community. It is the place to visit for heritage and culture and as well as a range of eclectic shops and restaurants. It is also known for its’ market days with stallholders selling everything from home-made local food to antiques, jewellery and arts and crafts with Tuesdays seeing the local stall holders dress up in Elizabethan costume. Each Christmas, Totnes holds a Christmas Festival, a series of three events held on Tuesday afternoons and into the evening with entertainment, shopping, food, music and lots of fun with market stalls lining the main street.
