Things to Do in Dartmouth and Kingswear

You won’t be short of ideas in Dartmouth as it’s packed with events and things to do throughout the year, from festivals, exhibitions and markets there is always something to enjoy. The festival season kicks off in May with the Dart Music Festival which has over 100 performers across the 3 days, creating a real buzz in the town. Towards the end of August is Dartmouth Regatta week which has a packed programme of air displays, sailing, live music, street food and fireworks.

If you’d like to get out on the water then there is plenty of opportunities in Dartmouth to get afloat. Book a boat trip up the River Dart where you can enjoy enviable views of the Dartmouth Naval College and also Agatha Christies home, Greenway, now owned and run by the National Trust. If you are very lucky you may see ‘Sammy’ the seal who can often be seen relaxing on mooring dinghies nearby.

Fancy being your own Captain? Why not hire your very own boat for a half day and motor up the river and visit Dittisham, the perfect spot to enjoy a bit of lunch in the Anchorstone Café or Ferryboat Inn.

For those who prefer to be on terra firma the South West Coastal path can be picked up on the edge of town. Walk along the cliffs and enjoy the stunning views out to sea, if you get as far as Blackpool sands, enjoy a dip in the sea followed by lunch at the Venus Beach Café.
