What can I do in Shaldon?

Shaldon is a great base for enjoying local activities and attractions including Shaldon Zoo and Botanical Gardens all with in short walk of the village centre.

If you enjoy walking, take the South West Coastal path and head to Labrador Bay, where from the highest points of this breath-taking walk you can enjoy views across to Lyme Bay.

Shaldon beach is perfect for swimming, exploring the rock pools and for generally messing around on the water. A short walk from town, through a smugglers tunnel and you will find Ness Cove beach, a sheltered and picturesque beach sitting below the surrounding red cliffs. Perfect for relaxing away from it all and watching the world go by.

If you are visiting in early August, don’t miss Shaldon Water Carnival – the oldest running regatta in the world! With over 100 events to enjoy there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

What can I do in Teignmouth?

In the summer months head for the main seafront and enjoy relaxing on the long, sandy beach or why not try a bit of paddle boarding or sea kayaking? The traditional pier, located on the main beach, is a great place to visit all year round. Be taken back in time and enjoy a bit of nostalgia playing the arcade games or enjoying an ice cream at the end of the pier. 

For small children there is a wonderful park just off the main promenade which offers plenty of play equipment and water features for your little ones to enjoy or why not visit the heated outdoor Teignmouth Lido swimming pool to the east of the beach for a splash around.

What can I do in and around Dawlish?

Running through the centre of Dawlish is the Green, perfect for picnics and ball games, it’s also a great spot for watching the famous Black Swans which swim along the river. Just a few miles from the town centre is Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, a perfect haven for bird lovers and holidaymakers who can enjoy the miles of sandy beaches that never seem to get busy.

Get the whole family cycling by joining the Exe Valley Cycle Trail which runs along the coast and River Exe. Mostly flat it is a great way of getting everyone active whilst giving you the opportunity to enjoy the stunning countryside, sea and river views.
