Things to Do in Totnes
Totnes has a lively arts and music programme all year around so whatever time you visit you’re sure to find something to entertain you. One of the most popular events not to be missed is the Christmas Market which takes place in the High Street every Tuesday evening in December. The town totally transforms at dusk with an eclectic and diverse range of stalls with smells of mulled wine and sizzling food wafting through the air.
In the heart of the town is Totnes Castle, climb up to the top of this Norman Castle set up high on a mound and you can enjoy wonderful views across the town. There is plenty in the town to keep the little ones happy, from an enchanting Rare Breeds farm, Steam Train rides along the River Dart and pottery painting, the perfect wet weather activity.
Situated on the River Dart, Totnes has a number of water based activities including taking a trip on the ferry to the historic town Dartmouth for the day or if you fancy something more private and cosy, then you can hire the Picnic Boat which takes you down the river, exploring the beautiful creeks.
For something a little bit different, book a Trek and Taste tour at nearby Sharpham Vineyard. Set right on the River Dart you can explore and learn about Wine Making and get to sample wines, along with their own homemade cheeses.
